It’s okay to leave me here
On this stepping stone
I am finding my way
Just not today
I want you to stay
But our time has come
And my heart aches
As our dusk breaks
I vet my mistakes
On this stepping stone
Taking in your cloud of dust
Traces of a beautiful lust
Remaining intact, maintaining trust
You have illuminated my world
In that so-you style
And eternally enchanting smile
First beautiful delight in a while
On this stepping stone
Where you shined bright
And gifted me light
But now you’re out of sight
You do not surprise me
It’s no secret in revealing
The sky is your ceiling
You accompanied me in healing
On this stepping stone
So that I may find my way
Eventually someday
This is what I want to say
Thank you for opening my heart
And showing me I can still cry
Over another star crossed good bye
And inspiring me that I too can fly
Off of this stepping stone
Up through the clouds
To fearlessly live my life
